Greetings Everyone,
The month of June has been exceptionally busy and exciting for Oakland County Sportsmen’s Club. During the first weekend of June, the D.R. Wilson Action Pistol Range hosted its first-ever Michigan State Steel Challenge Championship, and the event was a tremendous success. Competitors included world champion shooting teams and shooters from across the country, representing states such as California, Texas, New York, Florida, and many throughout the Midwest.
Thanks to the efforts of our volunteers and staff, OCSC is now being recognized as one of the premier shooting clubs on the national stage. I would also like to extend a special thank-you to Scout Troop 185 for assisting with painting targets for the championship. Removing the burden of target painting from competitors was a huge plus and added a unique touch to the event. The Scouts did a fantastic job, and their contribution was greatly appreciated.
In addition, the club recently hosted an outdoor concert featuring Magic Bus that attracted more than 600 attendees. The event was expertly organized by Kim Scribner, Kim Little, Club Manager Paul Biediger, and
a dedicated team of volunteers. For many attendees, it was their first introduction to OCSC. Everyone I spoke with described it as a fantastic event and praised the welcoming atmosphere and outstanding experience.
Whether speaking with competitors at the championship or guests attending the concert, the comments were remarkably similar:
“What a great club.”
“The facilities are top-notch.”
“How do I become a member?”
Events such as the Michigan State Steel Challenge Championship and the Magic Bus concert showcase the best of what OCSC has to offer. They demonstrate our ability to host nationally recognized shooting competitions while also providing outstanding family-friendly events that bring new people through our
gates. These opportunities help strengthen our reputation, grow membership interest, and reinforce OCSC’s position as one of the premier sportsmen’s clubs in Michigan.
As I have said before, I am proud to be a member of OCSC. It truly is one of the finest clubs in Southeast Michigan, and its reputation continues to grow because of the dedication, commitment, and hard work of
its members, volunteers, and staff.
Thank you for everything you do to make OCSC a destination for shooters, families, and our community. I look forward to seeing you at the club.
