D.R. Wilson April 2025 Update
April 3, 2025
April is upon us, and do you know what that means?
It’s turkey season!
Turkey season begins April 19th depending on the zone you are hunting. Good luck to all members who plan to hunt.
Our March 3D Fun Shoot was a success joined by archers of all ages. Our next 3D Fun Shoot is on the second Sunday of April.
The next tournament is the Archery Club Championship with 2 lines on March 22 at 5:00 pm or March 23 at 10:00
am. Show your fellow archers who is best in class for your shooting division.
At the end of April on the 26th at 7:30 pm is our Flashlight Shoot. Come out early to shoot in twilight or later to shoot
in the dark with your flashlight. Enjoy a campfire after you shoot to tell tall tales of how well you shot.
The Archery Banquet is just around the corner as winter leagues and instructional archery have ended. Join us on
April 12th beginning at 5:00 pm for a fun-filled evening recognizing the best archers in our various leagues and area
tournaments. This includes our Junior Olympic Archery Development (JOAD) archers who earn pins of achievement
as they become our next generation of accomplished archers.
Junior Olympic Archery Development (JOAD) is practicing for the Tri-County MAA 420 being held at Muti-Lakes Conservation Association. Come on out to show your support for the team while shooting alongside our team.
JOAD is also expanding into a new Scholastic 3-D Archery (S3DA) Program. S3DA fosters, educates and guides youth in the areas of indoor target, 3D and outdoor target archery as well as safe, ethical bowhunting practices. If S3DA
sounds like something your junior archer is interested in, come out Sundays between 1:30pm to 4:00pm for a coach
to explain the program.
Work bees are continuing Tuesdays at 9 am on the outdoor range. Most of the work consists of clearing dead trees
and debris for the shooting lanes, repairing shooting stands, lane markers and other tasks as required. Work hours
are available for members for their support. If you cannot make Tuesdays, we have individual tasks that need to be
done. Contact John Borth, Mike McGinnis, Ron Hall.
Summer leagues begin the first week in May with the Field and Hunter League, 3D Leagues, Youth 3D Instructional League and the FITA League. Join a league to shoot with your friends.
Junior Adventure Day is the first Saturday in May. Registration begins the first Saturday in April and usually fills up on the same day. Support Archery and the club by signing up your kids or by volunteering to support the club to make this event successful.
