April 23, 2026Vice President's Corner | May 2026
Greetings OCSC Members,
By the time you read this, the new Executive Board and Board of Directors will have been seated. We have a strong group of individuals joining the Board, each bringing valuable professional experience, and I am genuinely looking forward toworking alongside them. I would also like to take a moment to thank those members whose terms on the Executive Boardand Board of Directors have concluded. Your service and dedication to the Club are sincerely appreciated.
As part of our responsibility for the Club’s buildings and grounds, President Mike Graham and I will be conducting acomprehensive inspection of all facilities and property. From that review, we will develop a prioritized list of items requiring immediate attention, those to be addressed within the next quarter, and longer-term repairs and upgrades plannedfor the coming year. Please look for updates on this effort in future Member Newsletters.
Archery, the Competitive Shooting Group, and Shotgun are all gaining momentum as the season progresses. Through itsoutstanding programming, the Archery group has attracted shooters from another local club who will now be utilizing OCSC’s excellent facilities.
On the competitive shooting side, IDPA, USPSA, and Steel Challenge are in full swing. If you have not yet experiencedone of these disciplines, I encourage you to register for a match and give it a try.
The Shotgun group will also be launching its Junior Shotgun program in the near future. For additional information, please contact the Shotgun group directly.
On a personal note, I recently made my first visit to the shotgun fields and tried my hand at it. After just two sessions, Iwas hooked. Now comes the challenge of convincing my lovely bride why I “need” yet another firearm. If you have any persuasive suggestions, I welcome them the next time we meet at the Club.
Waterford Hills Road Racing will be hosting its driver’s school this April, with the racing season kicking off the first weekend in May. I encourage you to come out, enjoy a day at the races, and take advantage of everything the event has tooffer—including a visit to the concession stand for some classic race day fare.
From an operations standpoint, you may have noticed ongoing improvements to the Club website—and for the better. Wenow have a reliable and accurate calendar system in place and have been working with our sub-clubs to ensure proper submission of events. I would like to specifically recognize Michelle Primeaux for her significant efforts in updating the website and calendar, along with Danielle and her website expertise. Her hard work and dedication are clearly making apositive impact. When you have the opportunity, please consider reaching out to thank her.
Additionally, OCSC will be hosting a musical event in June featuring the local group Magic Bus. Please watch forupcoming E-Blasts and posted flyers with details regarding dates and ticket availability.
In closing, I am proud and excited to be part of such a remarkable Club—one that offers a wide range of outstanding activities and is supported by some of the finest people you could hope to know.
Mike Stailey
1st Vice President
