Sticky Tires Newsletter – August 2025

On July 20th, five of us went to Detroit Sportsmen’s Congress to shoot the second leg of the 3D BBQ Shoot. The turnout for the day appeared to be light. I hope when we host the third leg in the Archery woods that our turnout will be better. The BBQ Shoot consists of 30 3D targets followed by a summer barbecue a erwards. Everyone is welcome to join us for the fun shoot on August 10th.
The following weekend of August 16-17 is the 51st Bowhunter Jamboree. We are looking to change things up a bit this year with a 30-target trail shoot. On Sunday, Sunrise Archery will be on-site to support the archers and their equipment to make sure that you will be ready for the fall archery seasons, upcoming leagues, or tournaments. The Bowhunter Jamboree is open to all archers.
Our summer leagues have come to an end except for the FITA league on Wednesdays. They have had so many days of rain that they will continue their league through the month of August. The summer league banquet is on Tuesday, August 5th at 5:30 PM. I hope to see you all there.
Junior Olympic Archery Development (JOAD) is practicing for the MSU Archery Fall Classic at the Demmer Center. Practice will continue on the FITA field on Sundays from 2-4 PM through the month of August. In case of rain, practice will move to the indoor range. On September 14th, JOAD will be having an open house for all youth interested in knowing more about who we are. More information is coming soon on our JOAD Facebook.
Broadhead league starts the last week of July (29, 30, 31) for 8 weeks. Tuesday and Thursday starting times are 4-7 PM and Wednesday starting times are 9-11 AM. Come out to hone your skills ahead of the archery deer season. All leagues are open to the public.
Work bees are now on Tuesdays at 9 AM. The crew has a long list of things to do. We also have individual projects if anyone is looking for work hours.
Check the Archery website for event times and range closures at: 2025 Archery Events or Archery Facebook
