The Bite – August 2024

The D R Wilson Precision Pistol Team Takes Home 10 of 14 Trophies!
August 1, 2024
The official grand opening of the Signature Stand is August 11th.
We will have numerous targets to shoot at from the different positions on the stand. Come on out for this new exciting shoot.
Broadhead leagues begin July 30, 31, and August 1st. Bring your team or we can help you put together a team. We are still looking for league secretaries for Tuesday and
Thursday. Secretaries receive work hours or their league fee for volunteering.
Our next Archery fundraiser is Rockin’ at the Racetrack, August 24th after the road races for the day. It will be a fun evening of music featuring Whiskey Business. See our Facebook event post for details. We need volunteers to make this evening event fun and successful.
On the note of volunteering, the last couple of tournaments we were very short of volunteers. Volunteers make everything we have going at Archery run smoothly. Without volunteers, we would not have leagues, tournaments, instruction or even a place to practice. Volunteering provides you with work hours to reduce your dues.
In August, we have events that need your support. The Signature Stand fun shoot August 11th, Bowhunter Jamboree August 17-18th, BBQ Trifecta August 18, Rockin’ at the Racetrack fund raiser August 24th and the workbees that maintain targets and ranges we all enjoy. There are also individual projects that need to be done to make Archery a place for shooters of all ages to enjoy.
Workbees will continue Wednesdays shifting to afternoons in August from 5-8 pm. We are going on the offensive to reduce our invasive vines that are beginning to pull the trees done. We will start at the FITA field. Wear sturdy shoes and bring gloves, loppers, hand saws, and weed whips. Help us to gain an upper hand on these vines. If we continue to let this problem go, we eventually will not have woods to shoot in.
To conclude, I would like to thank our members for their support of Archery. The Wednesday morning Workbee crew, summer leagues secretaries, the people who cut and paint the broad-head targets, the tournament directors, Archery instructors, and the landscaping crew. Your support makes our facilities top notch and a desirable place for archers.
